Estimulación magnética transcraneal como terapia para la depresión resistente al tratamiento. Revisión de la literatura.

Resumen


El 30% de las personas con depresión mayor no logran la remisión después de dos o más tratamientos y en estos casos se considera que tienen depresión resistente al tratamiento. Se trata de un tipo de enfermedad mental crónica que afecta a la calidad de vida, al funcionamiento social, y a la salud. En los últimos años se ha sugerido el uso de la estimulación magnética transcraneal en este tipo de pacientes. El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar una revisión sobre la eficacia de la estimulación magnética transcraneal en pacientes con depresión resistente al tratamiento. Se realizó una revisión siguiendo la normativa PRISMA. Se consultaron las bases de datos de PubMed, Cinahl, PsycINFO, SPORTDiscus, Academic, Lilacs, IBECS, CENTRAL, SciELO, y WOS. La estimulación magnética transcraneal es eficaz en pacientes con depresión resistente al tratamiento. Se trata de una terapia segura, y bien tolerada.
